CHAPT 11-Cable,Satellite and Internet Television

Cable TV began modestly in the 1950s as a device,that brought TV to remote areas.Satellite TV transmissions gave people more reasons to subscribe to cable.Telecommunication Act of 1996 where TV companies could provide cable TV and where cable could provide telephone service.Besides that,satellite and cable systems use digital technologies to support video on demand,high definition ,tv.Cable systems also provide telephone and internet service.Based on mobile media,cable and satellite content can be sent to cell phones and all.The structure of cable TV which has distribution system.I have also learned about the programming and financing cable tv which are local operators like program sources,income sources ,expenses,national operation and income sources.Through video on demand,users search for content stored on cable,satellite company's server .VOD has been slow to catch on and it is low priority for cable companies.Then satellite tv also have structures like content providers,broadcast centers ,thus ownership trend is toward consolidation .Starting an internet channel requires only like camera and website.Based on the audience, 85% of US households subscribe to cable or satellite providers.25% of internet users watch online videos at least once a week.
